“Autodesk Licensing did not install (error code: 70)” when trying to install Autodesk software or Error Code: 1

Issue:

This article provides steps to resolve installation issues related to Autodesk Licensing Service failures or general installation errors (Error Code: 70 or Error Code: 1) for Autodesk 2021 products.

Steps

  • Reinstall Autodesk Licensing Service:
    1. In your cleanup tool, click the "Uninstall Adsk Service " button.
    2. Next, click "Install Adsk Service ." 
    3. If you are experiencing the error with a 2021 product, download the 11.0 ADSK file.
  • Replace setup.ini Configuration File:CRITICAL: Ensure that the Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service is running correctly as confirmed in Step 1 before proceeding.
    1. Download the setup.ini configuration file specific to your Autodesk 2021 product from the following links:
    2. Note: Make sure to download the correct setup.ini file for your specific product (e.g., for CAD, download the CAD setup.ini; for Revit, download the Revit setup.ini). Downloading the incorrect file will render this solution ineffective.
    3. After downloading, extract the setup.ini file to your current folder.
    4. Copy the setup.ini file.
    5. Navigate to the installation package directory of your Autodesk 2021 product (e.g., Revit2021 or CAD2021 installation folder).
    6. Right-click within the directory and select "Paste."
    7. When prompted to replace the existing file, choose "Copy and Replace."
    8. Once the file is replaced, open and run setup.exe from the installation package directory to proceed with the product installation.
